Recommended max force = Is the maximum force you can put the die set under. This includes a 50% safety margin which is industry standard.
Typical force for quality pellets = This is the range we recommend using that will get you a great pellet and is much less than the recommended max force.

High Strength Heat Treated Steel
6x6 mm Square Pellets Dies have a range of applications. The 6x6 mm (1/4 x 1/4 inch) Pellet Dies require a relatively small amount of material to make a pellet compared to the larger opening dies.
The relatively small area of the die sets means that high stresses can be reached with minimal applied stress. Always check the required loading first to not exceed the strength of the die set. Whilst dies steels are chosen for tolerating high stresses and pellet dies are heat treated fro superior properties, you can easily exceed even these high yield strengths with a hydraulic press with a few pumps of the handle. The diameter is small enough that pressing force can be applied manually with a lever press or arbor press. Take it easy and make sure students and interns are aware of the same!
Die made of hardened tool steel (Rockwell hardness >C60) for long lasting trouble free performance. Sleeve is polished to high tolerances to allow the hardened tool steel plunger to slide through perfectly. Plunger and spacers are made from high yield strength steel, machined and polished to high tolerance for the perfect fit. Interior surfaces ground to mirror-like finish.

*If making thicker pellets, the die set can operate just the same without spacers.
